IMAN FANDI
Blazing her own path
MANDEEP: Hi Iman, its always a pleasure speaking with you and congratulations on your debut single, Timeframe. How has the reception been?
IMAN: Reception has been great and better than I had expected as it was my first single and also first song out as an artist. It’s always something I’ve wanted to do and I’m just glad that I was able to do it despite the start of the pandemic.
Your Dad and brothers obviously have chosen the path of football. Were you sporty growing up and did you ever consider a career in sports?
Oh yes, I am a pretty sporty person. I am the type of person who likes to do a million things at once and I did grow up playing football as well. But I knew sports wasn’t something I wanted as a professional career as my interests were more on modelling and in entertainment, fashion and media industry.
How do you keep fit and we always seem to see you in adidas gear. Is it your favourite brand?
Being a sporty person and someone who loves the outdoors, it’s not too hard getting for me to keep fit and I really like adidas because I feel like it just has more options and versatility especially for women. It has both the sports and athletic range and the casual daily wears which I love.
Music is not an easy career path in Singapore – What would you say to those who have the passion and want to start out but find it difficult to get support or have to deal with others putting them down say on social media.
I would say “take the risk” it’s better to try and take the leap than to regret never trying. Forget about what people say and instead do the things you want to because this is your life. You want to fill it with as much positive things as you can.
We are so excited on what you have accomplished so far – what’s next?
What’s next? You will have to stay tuned and find out!
Would you wear the same shoe as your dad when you go out together – cool or weird?
I guess I would! I think it would be cool! Kinda cute and funny even. I would definitely style it differently from him of course.
