adidas Originals by Craig Green Season Three
adidas Originals and Craig Green continue their on-going partnership with 2 brand new silhouettes - CG ZX 2K PHORMAR and CG ZX 2K PHORMAR II, that are ingenious in their functionality. Pioneered by British designer, the design of the uppers are developed from a concept first previewed on Green’s AW20 show, a reflection of the celebrated British designer’s commitment to creativity with purpose.
“I’ve always been interested in design for function and how this can shape an aesthetic. Working closely with adidas, we were able to create a new way of constructing the upper of a shoe, using a single piece of fabric and a series of cords. These work together to create a structure that’s easily foldable yet also strong,” says Craig Green.
For Summer 2021, Craig Green has created a new sneaker that embodies simplicity and strength. Each design detail exists to serve a function. CG ZX 2K PHORMAR and CG ZX 2K PHORMAR II are constructed with the fewest individual pieces possible, structured using intrinsic cording details that are famously found on Green's design identity. The shoe takes inspiration from the functional simplicity of the ZX 2K Boost sole, creating a function-focused shoe that is futuristic, yet also minimal in its construction. 
CG ZX 2K PHORMAR has an upper constructed from one piece of translucent nylon, structured by hi-density white cording that’s fed through stitched channels. This cording is visible beneath the nylon, then emerges at the heel and the top of the tongue to reveal the shoe’s inner workings. This cord tunnel detail is a signature technique in Green’s work, the elemental manual construction providing both form and function. The resulting shoe is ergonomically engineered to the wearer’s foot.
The internal stretch lining is printed with the essential 3-Stripe, appearing through the translucent outer shell of the shoe like an internal ghost layer. The microfine tubular lacing is adjusted with a cord lock, while the exposed pieces of structural cord act like handles to adjust and fit the shoe to the shape of the individual foot. To finish the shoe is the ZX 2K heel, encasing the Boost with a semi-translucent heel clip and outsole. CG ZX 2K PHORMAR will be available in royal blue and white lightweight ripstop nylon.
CG ZX 2K PHORMAR II offers an opaque counterpart of the style with the same construction, available in either matt woven nylon, or PU coated warp knit. The CG ZX 2K PHORMAR II features a metal cord stopper for adjusting the lacing, with a metallic trefoil badge on the lateral, while both styles have graphics on the tongue and CRAIG GREEN branding on the heel. CG ZX 2K PHORMAR II comes in beige nylon, or in black or white PU coated warp knit., with tonal cording on the PU coated warp knit options.
