adidas Originals + Song For The Mute 'ADI005'

The latest collaboration between Song for the Mute and adidas Originals is an ode to the elemental — where solitude meets warmth, where shelter is found in vastness. A reflection of the nomad, the maker, the wanderer — rooted yet untethered, grounded yet free.

ADI005 draws from pastoral life, from the language of the land — domes, doorways, spaces lived in. A world of shepherds and goats, charred toast, fresh milk.

At its heart are two reimagined silhouettes. The iconic Superstar, rebuilt with soft tactility, features vegetable-tanned suede, buttery full-grain leather, and rich tonal hides. Earthy browns, milky off-whites, and black flecked with white echo its inspirations — the toast, the milk, the goat. Each side of the shoe contrasts matte, open-pored leathers with subtly sheened finishes, reinforcing material honesty — grounded yet enduring. A custom-moulded shell toe — a first for adidas — features additional lace holes, a hidden SFTM insignia, and a muted matte execution, shifting the icon into something softer, more ephemeral. Antiqued metal eyelets, increased in number, refine the balance of heritage and evolution — less emblem, more artifact.

The Adistar Cushion, a more technical counterpart, adapts these principles to performance. Nubuck suede, pony hair, and a see-through open mesh upper create a layered interplay of structure and imperfection. Contrasted suede and satin three stripes add depth, while a dusted, timeworn outsole reinforces movement through landscape — shaped by wind, dust, and time.

The apparel extends this philosophy into form, led by a reimagined tracksuit — track jacket and matching pants — shaped by structure and curve, echoing the quiet geometry of domes and earthen forms. Both models, in brown and black, feature gold piping and contrast panels. The jacket features an embroidered script appliqué on the rear, a subtle mark of the collaboration. Shepherd-like knits, in two tones, evoke warmth and utility, textured yet unassuming. Washed tees, embroidered with collaborative script insignia, complete the offering. Cuts are relaxed, details subtle but intentional — sun-faded graphics, silhouettes that feel neither modern nor antiquated.

The campaign, shot by Gabriel Silver Parker and developed in collaboration with Stylist Stephen Mann, transforms ADI005’s world into a fractured, dreamlike narrative. Known for their multi-image compositions, Parker’s lens deconstructs time — subjects ripple and multiply, mirroring the tactile contrasts and raw materiality of the collection.

Inspired by Goat Yoga, the imagery plays with balance, weight, and movement, evoking the nomadic rhythms of pastoral life — where existence is shaped by the land and shared with animals. Models drift through a liminal space, their gestures both instinctive and composed, suspended between the real and the surreal. Lunar projections and stark lighting blur the boundaries of dwelling and open expanse, grounding the surreal in the familiar.

Through ADI005, Song for the Mute and adidas Originals continue their exploration of nostalgia, materiality, and the poetry of imperfection. A collection that does not chase newness but instead embraces the warmth of things well-used — objects, textures, and colours that hold memory, that feel like home.
