adidas Originals + Wales Bonner 'The Rift Valley Runners'
This season, adidas Originals and Wales Bonner return to present their Spring Summer 2024 collection. Inspired by the enduring legacy of East African runners, the British designer, and the brand with the Three Stripes travel to the Home of Champions in Iten, Kenya. With the spirit of the marathon at its heart, each piece in the collection is an ode to resilience, endurance, and dedication.
The latest adidas Originals by Wales Bonner collection recontextualizes archival running looks for the present day through elevated materials, carefully considered prints, and expressive patterns. The refined apparel selection includes bright tracksuits, running singlets reimagined for a lifestyle context, colour blocked Three Stripes tees, patterned shorts, and timeless khaki outerwear pieces. Arriving alongside the apparel collection is a host of curated accessories including a reversible bucket hat, a suite of bags, and graphic print socks in bold colourways.
The footwear offering, meanwhile, sees Wales Bonner bring a signature take to the SL 76. Renowned as an archival classic, the vintage mesh and suede runner is reworked in two colourways: yellow with black stripes and light blue with black stripes. The collection is then rounded out by two different Samba silhouettes: the classic Samba in two colourways and, for the first time in the range, the Samba Millennium is presented in two distinct makeups – one with a leather heel and one with a blue pony hair heel.
Captured by photographer Viviane Sassen and brought to life by filmmaker Steven Traylor, the collection is accompanied by a campaign that tells a story of endurance through the lens of inspired journeys. Spring Summer 2024 campaign features world class adidas runners including Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Bethwel Yegon, Nelly Chepchirchir, Charles Simotwo, Cornelius Kemboi and Barselius Kipyego. The visuals reference archival sports advertising campaigns, depicting the magic of human endeavour.
