ASICS and Awake NY expanded their partnership with a collaboration, celebrating one of ASICS’ most iconic footwear models, the GEL-LYTE III. The popular early ‘90s shoe returns with its original shape and maintains its traditional construction, featuring the iconic split-tongue.This marks the first time that Awake NY is working with the silhouette. With four distinct colorways, the collection puts a youthful spin on a timeless design. “The GEL-LYTE III is a clean and classic silhouette. We wanted to give the shoe our own twist without reinventing the wheel,” Awake NY Founder and Creative Director, Angelo Baque said. “We kept it youthful while respecting the original design.”All GEL-LYTE III models were designed by Baque. Three of the shoes feature uppers built with pig skin nubuck, debossed metallic Awake NY logos on the lateral heel, reflective detailing throughout and clear TPU ASICS Tiger Stripes. They will be available in a baby's breath/green tambourine, della robbia blue/tan and magenta/black. 

GEL-LYTE III
Designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui over 30 years ago, the GEL-LYTE III was originally built as a performance running shoe. The instantly recognizable split tongue was first featured on the GEL-LD RACERÔ but has since become synonymous with the GEL-LYTEÔ  III. Over the past three decades, the shoe has been the centrepiece of ASICS’ most notable collaborations.
