ASICS + OTTO958 GEL-Flexkee 958

ASICS announces the release of the highly anticipated GEL-FLEXKEE™ 958 shoe, the first collaborative project between ASICS and OTTO 958, the amorphous project between avant-garde fashion house Kiko Kostadinov and the international art gallery Morán Morán.

The GEL-FLEXKEE™ 958 sees the brand reinterpret the ASICS GEL-FLEXKEE™ silhouette, one that was developed by analyzing the movements of athletes in skateboarding competitions at the ASICS Sports Engineering Laboratory and is characterized by its high functionality, specifically the sole which features a separated forefoot area. The GEL-FLEXKEE™ 958 upper uses an asymmetric lacing system and features full-synthetic leather construction and a quilted toe box. Elsewhere, the tongue features an enlarged flap that covers the laces, emphasizing OTTO 958’s signature ‘O’ logo with a raised embroidery as well as an additional logo hugging the heel.

The release comes in two initial colourways, Gunmetal Black and Hunter Green Black with a third colourway scheduled to be released later on in the year. A GEL-FLEXKEE™ 958 was put to the test for the campaign, filmed in Athens, Ohio in the summer of 2023. Filmed on location at Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin's property in the Midwestern United States, the resulting imagery comes to life through a six-minute film that takes place in, and around, the iconic property's 1.2 million gallon lazy river, which was drained for the occasion.
