Y-3 Spring / Summer 2021
The theme for Spring / Summer 2021 was the concept of protection from the natural elements. Y-3 reimagines the aesthetic code of a purpose-specific design through an avant-grande lens.
Three parts make up the collection, each inspired by the change of seasons in Japan: the first an answer to tsuyu—the rainy season—with pieces that utilises the waterproof elements of Gore-Tex. The second is the response to haru-ichiban—the first winds of spring—with windbreakers and pieces with wind-repellent elements. The last reflects on the concept of kage wo otosu—casting shadows—to offer protection from the sun. The key elements that run throughout the collection are hoods, hats, anoraks, and tech materials providing functionality and protection to the elements of the world
CHAPTER 1: TSUYU
Y-3が「Spring/Summer 2021」コレクションの第1章を発表します。絶え間なく変化する都市の光景を探求することがテーマで、目的に特化した全天候型のデザインが持つ美意識のコードを前衛的なレンズを通して再考しています。「第1章」はこのテーマ探求の第1弾として、日本の雨季である「梅雨」を描いたドローイングでカバーする、というコンセプトを追求しています。
アパレルでは進歩的なデザインを得意とするY-3らしいアプローチを採用し、都市に降る雨の陰影に富んだダークな雰囲気を巧みに表現しています。反射素材を用いたディテール、アシメトリックなレイヤー、意外性があるカラーパレットをシームレスに活用して、プロテクト機能を装備、技巧を凝らしたビジュアルキュー（視覚的な手がかり）を散りばめています。Y-3はGORE-TEXなどの耐候性のある素材や合成繊維、縫い目のシール加工、フード付きのシルエットをパーカ、フーディ、ニットウェアに採用することで、梅雨の季節に相応しい機能性とフォーマルな雰囲気をエレガントに両立させています。アパレルのアイテムに加えて、多彩な機能を備えたバケットハット、キャップ、バッグなどのアクセサリー類も充実しています。
